Turbopkg

Below you will find the procedures for updating the packages necessary to use the turbopkg command.

Due to recent changes to our FTP server (ftp.turbolinux.co.jp), an update of the turbopkg command has become necessary. The turbopkg command is included in a packaged named "zabom"; please update this package using the procedure for your platform as detailed below. Note that, to provide you with the most stable environment possible, this package is updated from time to time; please do use the latest version.

Procedures for Turbolinux Enterprise Server 8 (powered by UnitedLinux)*:

* Excluding: Turbolinux Enterprise Server 8 Advanced (powered by UnitedLinux SP1), Turbolinux Enterprise Server 8 Basic (powered by UnitedLinux SP1) Note that this update is not required for these platforms.

1) From the update page: http://www.turbolinux.co.jp/update/, download the following packages:

           zabom-1.9.17-winter2002.i386.rpm
           zabom-devel-1.9.17-winter2002.i386.rpm
           distro-0.1-18.i386.rpm
           distro-devel-0.1-18.i3m86.rpm

2) Using the rpm command, install the downloaded packages (note that this must be done as the superuser):

# rpm -Uvh zabom-1.9.17-winter2002.i386.rpm
           zabom-devel-1.9.17-winter2002.i386.rpm
           distro-0.1-18.i386.rpm
           distro-devel-0.1-18.i386.rpm

Procedures for: Turbolinux 8 Server, and Turbolinux 8 Workstation:

1) From their respective directories (Server and Workstation):
Server:
ftp://ftp.turbolinux.co.jp/pub/TurboLinux/TurboLinux/ia32/Server/8/updates/RPMS/
Workstation:
ftp://ftp.turbolinux.co.jp/pub/TurboLinux/TurboLinux/ia32/Workstation/8/updates/RPMS/

Download the following packages:

           zabom-1.8.22-winter2002.i586.rpm
           zabom-devel-1.8.22-winter2002.i586.rpm

2) Using the rpm command, install the downloaded packages (note that this must be done as the superuser):

# rpm -Uvh zabom-1.8.22-winter2002.i586.rpm
           zabom-devel-1.8.22-winter2002.i586.rpm

Procedures for: Turbolinux 7 Server, Turbolinux 7 Workstation:

1) From their respective directories (Server and Workstation):
Server:

Download the following packages:

           zabom-1.8.23-winter2002.i586.rpm
           zabom-devel-1.8.23-winter2002.i586.rpm

To users of zabom version 1.8.22 in Turbolinux 7: Depending upon the installation environment of the package, some issues may exist in the command line interface of zabom. A newer revision of the zabom package is being provided to address these issues, and this is why we are requesting that you install this latest version (1.8.23).

2) Using the rpm command, install the downloaded packages (note that this must be done as the superuser):

# rpm -Uvh zabom-1.8.23-winter2002.i586.rpm
           zabom-devel-1.8.23-winter2002.i586.rpm

Procedures for: Turbolinux 6.5:

1) From the following FTP directory:
ftp://ftp.turbolinux.co.jp/pub/TurboLinux/TurboLinux/ia32/Server/6.5/updates/RPMS/
Download the update packages:

           zabom-1.8.22-winter2002.i386.rpm
           zabom-devel-1.8.22-winter2002.i386.rpm

2) Using the RPM command, install the downloaded packages (note that this must be done as the superuser):

 # rpm -Uvh zabom-1.8.22-winter2002.i386.rpm
            zabom-devel-1.8.22-winter2002.i386.rpm

Procedures for Turbolinux Advanced Server 6:

1) From the following FTP directory:
ftp://ftp.turbolinux.co.jp/pub/TurboLinux/TurboLinux/ia32/AdvancedServer/6/ja/updates/RPMS
Download the following packages:

           distro-0.1-9.i386.rpm

           zabom-1.8.22-winter2002.i386.rpm
           zabom-devel-1.8.22-winter2002.i386.rpm

2) Using the rpm command, install the downloaded packages (note that this must be done as the superuser):

# rpm -Uvh distro-0.1-9.i386.rpm
           distribution-release-TAS6J-6.noarch.rpm
           popt-1.5-17.i386.rpm
           newt-0.50.17-2.i386.rpm
           rpm-3.0.6-17.i386.rpm
           zabom-1.8.22-winter2002.i386.rpm

Procedures for: Turbolinux Server 6.1:

1) First, using the rpm command, verify that gdm is installed:

# rpm -q gdm

If there is no package name listed (e.g., "gdm-2.4.4.5-6"), gdm is not installed. If gdm is not installed, there is no need to download package updates for it below. If it is installed, however, download and installation of two extra packages will be necessary to complete the update. These are noted below.

2) From the following FTP directory:

3) Using the rpm command, install the downloaded packages (note that this must be done as the superuser):

Note: you should omit the final two package lines (gdm and xinitrc -- the same packages skipped in the download section above), if gdm is not installed.

Procedures for: Turbolinux Workstation 6.0, Turbolinux Workstation 6.0 Limited Edition:

1) From the following FTP directory:

Download the following packages:

           distro-0.1-9.i386.rpm
           distribution-release-TLW6.0J-8.noarch.rpm
           newt-0.50.17-2.i386.rpm popt-1.5-17.i386.rpm
           rpm-3.0.6-17.i386.rpm
           zabom-1.8.22-winter2002.i386.rpm
           zabom-devel-1.8.22-winter2002.i386.rpm

2) Using the rpm command, install the downloaded packages (note that this must be done as the superuser):

# rpm -Uvh distro-0.1-9.i386.rpm
           distribution-release-TLW6.0J-2.noarch.rpm
           newt-0.50.17-2.i386.rpm
           popt-1.5-17.i386.rpm

Note: the versions of packages detailed above are subject to update. Therefore, if you do see a newer version of any of these packages in the FTP directory above, please feel free to use the newer version.
