JAVA アプレットにおける日本語表示

【質問】
JAVA アプレットが日本語を正常に表示できません。
どうしたらよいのでしょうか？


【原因】
JAVA アプレットの日本語表示に可変サイズフォントが必要であるのに、設定ファイル
 "font.properties.jp" にそのようなフォントが設定されていないためです。


【回避方法】
使用上ライセンスに注意した上で商用フォント等を利用すれば回避できます。

Ryobi フォントをご利用の場合は、Ryobi-fonts パッケージに含まれている
font.properties.ja.ryobi ファイルをご利用ください。

# rpm -ivh --force ryobi-fonts-3-9.noarch.rpm
# cd /usr/lib/netscape/communicator/java/classes
# mv /usr/share/doc/packages/ryobi-fonts-3/font.properties.ja.ryobi .
# mv font.properties.ja font.properties.ja.original
# mv font.properties.ja.ryobi font.properties.ja
