Before installing any server product, it is important to know the specifications of the hardware on which the product is to be installed and the settings required by the network to which the server is attached.

Before installation, it is necessary to know what type of hardware is in your computer. Make sure that you know, or can easily identify with documentation, the model and manufacturer of the following devices and any other devices in your computer before installation:
CPU (Intel x86 compatible - Pentium III or better is recommended)
Memory capacity (256MB or greater - 512 or more is recommended)
Hard disk make/model/size - for partitioning
CD-ROM drive
BIOS (CD-ROM Boot Capability)
Keyboard Type
Mouse Type
Video card (Manufacturer's Name, Product Name, On-board RAM amount)
Display (Manufacturer's Name, Product Name, Maximum Resolution, Refresh Rates)
Network card (Manufacturer's Name, Product Name)
If you are installing Turbolinux 10 Server on a machine that has Microsoft Windows (9x, NT, 2000, or XP) installed, you can obtain a printout of your hardware details by following these steps:
Select Start> Settings> Control Panel
Double-click the System icon
Select the Device Manager tab and click Print
When the Print window appears, select All Devices and System Summary
Click [OK]
You should then have a printout containing detailed information about your system from which you can identify the items in the list above.
