2.10. Time Zone Configuration

This screen allows you to configure how time is kept by your computer. It has two tabs: Location and Time Server (Figure 2.18 and Figure 2.19)

You can configure your time zone in one of three ways:

2.10.1. To configure your system's clock ...

If your system's time is configured locally, set your computer's clock using one of the following options as pictured in Figure 2.18:

  1. Identify a city in your time zone from the interactive world map and click on it.

  2. If your computer's hardware clock is set to UTC instead of your local time, check the box labeled System clock uses UTC.

2.10.2. To configure your system's time server ...

If your system's time is to be synchronized with a remote time server, select the Time Server tab (Figure 2.19), and follow these steps:

  1. Check the box labeled Use a time server.

  2. Select the radio button corresponding to the time server's protocol.

    Caution

    Please do not select RDATE since it is not currently installed.

  3. Select the frequency of time synchronization.

  4. Enter the hostname or IP address of the time server.
