2.9. Network Configuration

On the Network Configuration screen (Figure 2.17), specify your network settings.

Turbolinux automatically detects your network cards. If you have more than one network card, separate tabs with labels "eth0", "eth1", etc. are displayed on this screen -- each with data fields for network settings.

Caution

This screen is not displayed if you do not have a network card installed on your system.

2.9.1. To configure your network settings

If your system uses static network information, you will need to complete the rest of the fields on this screen. If you do not have the required network information, you should ask your network administrator for it.

If a hostname is required, enter it using your host's fully qualified domain name (FQDN) in the space provided.

For more information on network settings, see Section 1.2.1.

Caution

You can configure your system's FQDN and still use DHCP. To do so, deselect the box labeled Configure using DHCP. This will unlock the hostname (FQDN) field. Once you have entered the desired hostname, you may reselect Configure using DHCP.
