Turbo Media Player

Turbo Media Player is most characterized by its capability of playing back Windows Media-based contents. You can enjoy moving pictures contents such as movie previews or news that are published on the Internet. It also supports a lot of major multimedia file formats such as music CDs or for playing back Ogg Vorbis files.

Caution

While Turbo Media Player supports many multimedia file formats, some files cannot be played back. Due to patent or licensing issues, media files such as MPEG, MP3, AAC, and MOV and commercial DVD-Videos cannot be played back using a Turbo Media Player.

Caution

Some Windows Media-based contents that are delivered by leading portal sites are protected by using Microsoft DRM (Digital Rights Management). Because Turbo Media Player does not support DRM, it cannot play back contents protected with DRM. Files in Windows Media Audio 9 Professional formats also cannot be played back.

RealPlayer 10

RealPlayer 10 is a software to play back media files in RealVideo or RealAudio formats. It is mainly used to play back streaming videos and holds an overwhelming share of the Internet video delivery market. RealPlayer has been developed by RealNetworks, Inc., which provides not only RealPlayer of Windows or Mac version but also Linux version. Turbolinux FUJI contains RealPlayer 10 as default so that a user can enjoy playing back contents using RealPlayer 10 without separately installing one.

Tip

RealPlayer can also play back MP3 files. Turbolinux FUJI is customized to start RealPlayer 10 to play back MP3 files when a file with .mp3 extension is double-clicked using the file manager.

CD player (KsCD)

A CD player which is simple and easy to use. You can even set it up to automatically play back a music CD when it is inserted.

CD/DVD writing software (K3b)

K3b is used to write data in CD/DVD media. K3b supports not only writing in CD-R/RW, but also in DVD±R/RW. In addition, K3b allows you to create not only data CDs but also music CDs by selecting just the favorite pieces from the music file saved in Ogg Vorbis format. It has the graphical interface similar to that of Windows CD/DVD writing software and provides writing function in CDs/DVDs with intuitive operations.

iPod communication utility (gtkpod)

gtkpod is a tool to connect to iPod, which enjoys a dominant share in the mobile audio player market worldwide. It allows to edit a playlist of iPod on Turbolinux FUJI.

Caution

In Turbolinux FUJI, music CDs cannot be encoded into music files in MP3 or AAC format due to licencing considerations. Therefore you cannot add music files to iPod by using gtkpod.
