4.2. Office/Editor

Integrated office software (OpenOffice.org)

OpenOffice.org is an integrated office tool. It includes almost all of the applications necessary for business scenes such as word processing software, spreadsheet, presentation software, and graphic creating software. One of the characteristics of OpenOffice.org is the implementation of filters for importing (reading) and exporting (writing) files that provide high compatibility with other file formats. Especially, the high compatibility with Microsoft Office is known as one of the best advantages of OpenOffice.org. The files using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint can be edited through Open Office.org on Turbolinux FUJI and saved in Microsoft Office file formats. It is also possible to ouput the file created using OpenOffice.org as a PDF file.

PDF viewer (Adobe Reader 7)

Adobe Reader 7.0 is an application developed by Adobe Systems Inc. to view Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Since Turbolinux FUJI contains Adobe Reader 7.0 as default, you can browse PDF files immediately after startup. Search and copy and paste functions for Japanese text strings are also supported.

Text editor (KWrite)

KWrite is a simple text editor. Users who have used Windows Word Pad have little trouble in editing files using this function. You can copy, cut, and paste by clicking icons on the toolbar with a mouse. KWrite also supports short-cut keys that are commonly used in the Windows environment, allowing the user to edit intuitively using a keyboard. Because KWrite automatically identifies character code used, text files in Shift JIS code created in the Windows environment can be viewed without garbled characters.
