Chapter 5. Setup and Management of the System

5.1. Control Center

The control center is where various settings of KDE, which is employed as a standard desktop by Turbolinux FUJI, are centrally controlled. In addition, proprietary system management and setting tools are built in the control center as modules.

To start the control center, select "Control Center" from the "Menu" on the panel. The following window appears. System information is displayed on the startup screen.

The control center consists of multiple modules. Modules are divided into following categories which are displayed as icons in the left of the screen. Clicking an icon displays the modules contained in the category.

Tip

You can also toggle view mode of icons by selecting "Mode" -> "Tree View" from the "View" menu.

5.1.1. Administrator Mode

Typically, you log in Turbolinux FUJI as a general user created during installation. However, some settings in the control center can be accessed only when you have the privileges of root user, or a system administrator. When changing such settings, an [Administrator Mode] button is displayed as shown below.

To specify the settings, click the [Administrator mode] button. You are prompted to enter the password of the root user as shown below.

Enter the password and click [OK]. Now you can access the setting screen even if you have logged in as a general user.
