Appendix C. Booting from Floppy Disks

If you boot from floppy disks, you may be able to use the CD-ROM drive for installation on a computer that does not support boot from the CD-ROM drive. Booting from floppy disks will also enable installation from a local hard disk or over a network. Before this procedure, you need to make install disks.

C.1. Install Disk Types

Install disks include boot disks and driver disks. You must make boot disks in order to install Turbolinux FUJI. Make driver disks if required.

Tip

Visit our Web site and you may be able to get hold of an install disk updated to support hardware not supported at the time of release of Turbolinux FUJI.

The following table provides an overview of install disks.

Tip

To load the driver disks, specify an install option such as "dd" and "install noprobe" at the boot: prompt that comes up on the boot screen of the boot disks. For information on install options, see Appendix A.
