You can select one of the following installation types that are predefined by the installer:
Table 3-5. List of installation types
| Basic system | Minimum packages required for a Linux system will be installed. The X Window System will not be installed. |
| Standard desktop | This installation type is recommended for Turbolinux FUJI. Packages that are daily used by home and office users will be installed. Packages for developers will not be installed. |
| Everything | All packages contained in "Install CD1" and "Install CD2" will be installed. The installed packages will include those that are installed when "Standard desktop" is selected and developer packages, such as development languages, libraries, and tools. |
Usually, leave "Standard desktop" selected and click the [Next] button.
To see the packages to be installed, select an installation type and click [Custom selection] tab. You can also manually select or deselect packages to be installed.
![]() | If the free hard disk space is smaller than the space required for the selected installation type, you cannot click the [Next] button. If it is, change the installation type or increase the free disk space so that Turbolinux FUJI can be installed. |
![]() | Turbolinux FUJI includes Turbo Plus, which is a package management tool used to install and delete packages. You can use this tool to add and remove applications without difficulty even after installation. |

On the [Custom selection] tab, you can manually select or deselect packages to be installed.
The left "Categories" pane displays a list of package groups. When you click a package group, the packages that belong to the group are displayed on the right "Packages" pane. When you click a package group, an explanation of the group is displayed in the [Summary] tab. When you click a package in the "Packages" pane, an overview of the package and the [More info] button are displayed. By clicking this button, you can view more detailed information on the package.

To select a package group or package manually, click the corresponding check box to designate the package to be installed. On the [Select] tab, you can select or deselect all packages. On the [Search] tab, you can search for packages. The installer examines the dependency among packages to automatically select necessary packages or deselect unnecessary packages.
![]() | You cannot deselect package groups or packages that are required for the system. |

The parameters on the [Settings] tab are as follows: Usually, you do not need to change these parameters.
A package list is read and is used to build multiple instances of a system with the same package configuration.
You can select the kernel package to be installed. Usually, you do not need to change these parameters.
To use a language that is different from the language selected when starting installation, as the default language, you can select that language here.
Many packages, when acting, depend on other packages or libraries. If an installed package depends on another package that has not been installed, there is an unresolved dependency. The Turbolinux installer checks the dependencies among the packages each time a package is selected or deselected and automatically selects/deselects necessary/unnecessary packages. If you select this option, the installer will not resolve dependencies.
When you select this option, the system will first copy all packages to be installed to hard disk, and then start installation.
When installing/upgrading packages, the installer first downloads the packages to /tmp, install the packages, and then remove the packages. If you select this option, the packages will be left undeleted.
