To start installation, insert the "Install CD" into the CD-ROM drive and restart your computer.
![]() | To boot from the CD-ROM drive, you may need to modify the BIOS configuration to change the order in which boot devices are searched. To enter the BIOS setup screen, press the key indicated on screen when the computer is powered on. Many BIOSs use [Del] and [F1] keys. Press the indicated key and change the order in which boot devices are searched so that the computer will boot from the CD-ROM drive. |
As soon as the "Install CD" is loaded, the following boot screen will come up.

You will need to wait for the start of launch of the installer. On the left of the screen, a progress bar will appear, indicating the status of progress. On the right of the screen, you see the [boot menu] for the installer. "install" is selected by default. "install" is the most general boot menu option to be used to start the standard GUI installer. If you simply press the [Enter] key or do nothing for a while, the installation program will take over the processing until the installer based on a graphical user interface will start up in the end.
![]() | Turbolinux comes with this GUI installer as well as a text-based installer. To start the text-based installer, use the cursor keys to select "text" from the boot menu. |
![]() | In the installer boot screen, specify a [boot menu item] and a [boot option] in combination to change the installer operation mode. Enter a boot option in [boot options] displayed at the bottom of the screen. You may be able to work around a problem encountered in the normal installation procedure by specifying a boot option. For more information, see Appendix A. |
![]() | You can boot a PC/AT compatible computer from the CD-ROM in either of native and emulation modes, in the latter of which it is booted from an FD image file stored on the CD-ROM. There are a few computer models that cannot boot from "Install CD1", which provides operation in native mode. If this is the case, try booting from "Install CD2" that provides operation in emulation mode. |
