2.14. Configure Sound Card

Figure 2-27. Configure Sound Card - Easy Tab

The Installer automatically detects your sound card and displays the results. If the sound card detected is incorrect, please select the appropriate sound card from the pull down list. If you don't have a sound card installed in this system or you choose not to set up a sound card, check Skip sound configuration and click Next.

The detected sound card can be tested. Click the Load driver now button, and the installer will try to configure your sound card. If loaded correctly, the Play button can be clicked and a sample sound will be heard, indicating your sound card is operating correctly.

Caution

If you select a wrong sound card option or input an incorrect parameter, you may cause your system to hang. If this occurs, you have to discontinue the installation. If you are not sure of the correct configuration for your sound card, we recommand you to "do not configure" and proceed to the next step. You can configure the sound card after the initial installation is completed.

In the Advanced tab, you may also take advantage of optional configurations like an I/O port address, IRQ, DMA. However, when the Play button is clicked and a sample sound is reproduced normally, the Advanced tab setup is not required.

These configuration options differ depending on the kind of sound card you are using. Please refer to your sound card manual.
