3.13. Sound Card Configuration

If the installer automatically detects a sound card, it displays the type of the sound card (chip). If no sound card is installed or is detected, select "Skip sound configuration" and click the [Next] button.

Whether sound functions can be used in Linux depends on whether a device driver corresponding to your sound card (type of the installed audio chip) is provided. The Turbolinux installer supports many sound cards, but not all. Avoid selecting a wrong sound card and clicking [Load driver now]. This could cause the system to become unresponsive.

If a sound card is detected, you can install a driver and test the sound card. When you click the [Load driver now] button and the driver is loaded normally, the [Play] button becomes clickable. The sound card is normal if the sample sound plays back when you click the [Play] button.
