ターボリナックス、3000万ドルの第3ラウンド投資受け入れ完了
日本の大手企業が多数参加
世界の主要コンピュータベンダー各社が出資 |
ターボリナックス ジャパン株式会社(本社：東京都渋谷区、以下：ターボリナックス)は、本社Turbolinux, Inc. (本社：カリフォルニア州、以下：Turbolinux)が、新たに富士通、日立、IBM、SGI、ソフトバンク・イーコマースなどを加えた、世界的な大手コンピュータ関連企業から、総額3,000万ドルの第3ラウンド投資受け入れを完了したことを発表いたしました。
投資の詳細は公表しておりません。
今回のラウンドへの15社以上の参加企業の中には、CTC、OBC、インテック、東洋情報システムなどの有力なアプリケーションベンダーならびにSI(システム・インテグレーション)ベンダーなど、積極的なLinuxビジネス展開をしている多数の日本企業、および、IT分野のインキュベータであるアイ・ティー・エックス、アイ・ティー・電子部品などが含まれます。
また、今回の第3ラウンド投資受け入れ完了により、世界的なIT関連企業ならびにベンチャー・キャピタルなど約40社がTurbolinuxへ出資したことになり、その中には、IBM、DELL、コンパック、NEC、東芝、富士通、日立、SGIといった、日本企業を含む主要コンピュータベンダーが含まれています。

Turbolinux Closes $30 Million Private Funding Round
New IT powerhouse and venture capital investors in Turbolinux include
Deutsche Banc Securities, Fujitsu, H&Q Asia Pacific, Hitachi, IBM, SGI and SOFTBANK

SAN FRANCISCO, October 11, 2000 - Turbolinux, Inc., the high-performance Linux company, today announced it has closed $30 million in a third round of funding with global computing giants including FUJITSU LIMITED, Hitachi, Ltd., IBM, SGI and SOFTBANK E-COMMERCE CORP. making their first-ever investments in the company. Details of the financing round were not disclosed.
More than 15 corporate and venture investors participated in the round, including investment firms Deutsche Banc Securities and H&Q Asia Pacific. Previous investors in Turbolinux who also participated in the most recent round include August Capital, Dell Ventures and Intel Capital.
“Turbolinux has made great progress this year in delivering breakthrough products for Linux Internet infrastructure solutions and we’ve announced a series of major technology partnerships and customer reference wins around the world,” said T. Paul Thomas, president and CEO of Turbolinux. “We are pleased to see our hard work and success recognized by investments from some of the world’s leading technology companies and venture capital firms.”

Investors participating in the Turbolinux funding round announced today include August Capital, CTC, Dell Ventures, Deutsche Banc Securities, FUJITSU LIMITED, Global Alliance Inc., H&Q Asia Pacific, Hitachi, Ltd., IBM, INTEC Inc., Intel Capital, I.T. Electronics Corporation (formerly Nichimen Electronic Components Corp.), ITOCHU Corp., ITOCHU International Inc., ITX Corp., OBIC Business Consultant Co. Ltd., SGI, SOFTBANK E-COMMERCE CORP. and Toyo Information Systems Co., Ltd.
Turbolinux has completed three private funding rounds. In September 1999, the company announced investments from August Capital, Broadview International LLC and Intel Capital. In January 2000, Turbolinux closed the largest private funding round ever for a Linux company with investments from more than 20 global information technology companies.
Proceeds from the third funding round will be used to help expand Turbolinux's worldwide services, sales, development and marketing programs.
